I booked myself in at the Y (wca)

OK OK OK OK OK I want this on my pale bony wrist this instant

How ~apropos~ that the site is called Bona Drag. ALSO LOOK AT THE PRICE. I CAN HACK THAT. Why don't I own a credit card? Online shopping is so much better than anything else in life.

p.s. thanks to my girl Brigitte for recommending this site.
**BONUS FUN FACT**:
Brigitte and I were in a band together once. She played the organ and I was the frontgirl. She carried the band. I love Brigitte.

mais oui

This evening, the above three people were reunited over a London Fog, an Italian soda and a chai latte, respectively. I know what you're thinking: "Stef you look way too cool for those people!" And well, yeah. But it was fun anyway. They made me listen to Ghostface and embarrassed me in front of my neighborhood. What are friends for?

ps. remember when my hair was like that? I don't

I'm sorry but

John Mayer is kind of a total babe.

Pot Psychology

Jezebel has got to be my favourite site on the internet. If you look to the right, it's at the top of my blog roll and I even linked to it in this post. It's just a good mix of current world affairs, celebrity gossip and "of interest" articles that I haven't seen any other site combine.

My favourite feature on Jezebel is called Pot Psychology. It's posted every Friday and the concept is simple: Tracie "Slut Machine" Egan (an editor for Jezebel) and her friend Rich (of FourFour fame) get high and answer advice questions people send in. Mostly about taboo sex stuff. It. Is. Hilarious:

That's just a taste. Watch the rest of them here: http://jezebel.com/tag/pot-psychology

I couldn't embed my favourite one but it's the first one that shows up on the page. It makes me lol every time. Can I please hang out with these people.

cute

Today at work somebody that called in had named their cat Batgirl. How sweet is that?

Also sidenote: when google image searching "Batgirl" for the above photo, I had to weed through a LOT of porn-y images. Just a heads up. Or a hot tip?

lunch

Granny Smith apple, Parmesan cheese, mini pretzels

fuck treasure island

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I AM DEVASTATEDDDDDDDDDD

Backstory:

The lovely skeleton lady featured in this blog's header is none other than the wonderful Scout Niblett (http://www.myspace.com/scoutniblett). I hate descriptions like this but just to give you an idea, her sound reminds me of a cross between Bjork and old Cat Power. She's an absolutely fantabulous musician and she seems just totally badass. See:

Anyway, regarding my devastation: my parents booked me a flight to Vanocuver at the end of June to come visit again. That's awesome and I can't wait. But yesterday I was at Into The Music, with Andrew and I saw a poster for a show: A SCOUT NIBLETT SHOW. And it's happening on the evening after I leave :( :( :( :( Woe is me. The show would have been awesome for a few reasons:

-It's Scout Niblett.
-None of my friends (that I know of) are into her or have ever even heard her so I would probably either go alone or drag one of them along.
-To elaborate on the second point: most likely, nobody I know would be there so it won't be this big annoying scenester event. Not that I don't LOVE those but, it would be a nice change.

If anyone from Winnipeg does happen to love Scout, here are the details:

Thursday June 26th
The Pyramid Cabaret
Doors at 7, $10 cover (UGH SO CHEAP)
Advance tickets at Kustom Kulture, Kitsch & Into the Music
ENJOY YOURSELVES

FUCKKKKKK

Sure, her dress is cute and her hair is lovely but we all know Facehunter's latest shot isn't about the girl. It's definitely about how he so totally wishes this cheeky little child were his own.

one eyed jack of diamonds

I know it's kind of old news but today I came to the conclusion that I will always love Fred Flare.
For realsies I will never ever stop.

I think when I am old and grey I will still either own or desire this:

and this

and I've wanted this for AGES

and this

I've wanted this since I was born (literally for years now)

What I wouldn't give to put my coins and stray paper clips and the other garbage I collect into this scrumptious piece of cake...

Ok sorry I got carried away, I could post items from Fred Flare all day.
OH! OH! And look what I noticed:

It says QT(y) because all of their stuff is SO QT. See! (Sorry)

I will end this post with a question: do you have a secret crush on me? Then buy me stuff from Fred Flare! Your crush doesn't even have to be that serious because their stuff is like $3-$20 so...think about it...

stefanie serves scrumptious, sensual salads

Not to get all Dana on your asses (because she's awesome and I couldn't match her culinary masterpieces if I tried) but I'd like to share with you one of the best salads I have ever had.

I created this today whilst I was home for lunch and predict that I will subsist solely on it for a couple of days.

Stefanie Salad
(because when you make a salad you get to name it after yourself ok)

click image to spice up your life

You will need:

-spring mix greens (and...purples...I guess?)

-pine nuts

-feta cheese

-olive oil

-high-qual balsamic vinegar

-pepper

- ginger-garlic-cilantro sea salt (I purchased this as a gift for my aunt in this huge beautiful market in Vancouver and get to reap the benefits)
*OPTIONAL BUT..AMAZING*

Directions: Honestly, just mix it all together and call it a day. But eat it before you call it a day. Ok? Ok.

Don't blog about the price of gas

Critical mass.

I've got a pocket full of pretty green

Hey y'alllllll I'm back from Vancouvertown.
It was really awesome to see where I'm going to be living for the next chunk of my life. It's beautiful there and I love our place. And now that I'm back in Winnipeg I feel lonelier than ever, it's weird having to adjust to living "alone" or without your family.
Things about Vancouver in no particular order but numbered anyway for your convenience:

1. Every restaurant is a sushi restauraunt. Basically. Believe me when I say that there is, like, 1 sushi restaurant for every 2 people. We mistakingly went to one on Robson that was all-you-can-eat and it was TERRIBLE. Further research on good sushi restaurants is soon to follow.

2. Almost as common as sushi restaurants: hair/nail salons. It. is. insane. I wanted to drag my mom in one to see if they had really cheap hair extensions since the competition is so fierce but we didn't get around to it. On that topic: If done right, are hair extensions tacky?

3. There are beaches in the middle of the city. In the middle of downtown there is a beach! Further research on cute bathing suits is soon to follow.

4. Contrary to popular belief (you know who you are) the last skytrain to my place leaves downtown at 1:15 am. Still early for a night out but manageable.

5. The only H&M in the Vancouver area is a 12 minute drive from my condo.

6. Almost as numerous as sushi restaurants and beauty salons: THRIFT. STORES.
Heavenly.

7. They sell expired Pocky for 79 cents.

So there you have it. Now for the photos I promised:

The little maps of the route on the plane.

I love the view of the clouds from the airplane window.

Crucial flight soundtrack. The shuffle on my iPod is awesome.

Crucial snacks. Club soda is a tradition on flights.

This is what a CRAZED traveler looks like on next-to-no sleep. Look at those googly eyes, that shit is SCARY.

THE MOUNTAINS!

This is the apple slicer I got for Andrew's mom from Ikea. It is KEY for apple consumption. I don't know what I would do without mine.

the limit does not exist

I have pictures to post from en-route to Vancouver (where I am currently) but I forgot my connector chord.
Woe is me.
My family's condo here is amazing; it's right along the Fraser river and our rooms are huge.
Today I bought kick-ass Birkenstocks that look like this:

haters to the left.
Ugh serious you guys, I wish I could upload my photos. They include what I looked like after going out and going crazy until 3 in the morning and waking up at 5:30 for my 7 o'clock flight. Taken in the airplane bathroom. Get pumped.

In the mean time, here's something I've been meaning to post for a while but has been sitting in my queue un-posted. I'm a little obsessed with it.

Arcade Fire

Fatboy Slim

Tribute to my mom

Right now my mom is in Chile visiting with my grandparents because my grandfather is sick. Right now my parents both reside in Vancouver and I miss them terribly. Since it's mother's day I'm going to tell you a bit about why I love my mom:

She can roll her tongue. And that's a hereditary trait so, thanks mom!

She is very affectionate.

She is a lover (and peacemaker) of animals. And she does it with such a calm (eerie?) look on her face.

She is a very well-traveled citizen of the world.

She's athletic as hellllllllll

Mom you fucking rock. And sorry for swearing but let's be honest; you'd probably think it was hilarious.

I love my mom. If you read this, comment here and show moms some love. Happy mother's day.

yo aytha in o yo ouuuuuuuut

This question has been on my mind for months now:

Please please please can somebody tell me where to get a hat similar to Jillian Lewis's knit wonder in the season finale of Project Runway Season 4?

Isn't it whimsical?
Can anyone knit?

new favourite fashion photog: Wendy Bevan

I know nothing about Wendy Bevan other than her photographs are some of the most stunning I have ever seen. Don't they make you want to just be extra sassy?
