FTW

The Simpsons Halloween special is going to have a Mad Men spoof called "How To Get Ahead In Dead-vertising" and the opening credits have leaked! It's actually
spot on. Mad Men is the one show (that I watch online) where I never fast forward the opening credits because they're so fabulous. Check it:

P.S. I promise to have non-Mad Men related posts up soon. Luv u

Sasha Fierce

somebody get me these faux-veralls*
image via Facehunter

*the term faux-veralls is now copyright: me. tyvm

EDIT: I just googled my new word "faux-veralls" and APARENTLY it has already been coined. I feel like that one time when I was 9 and I thought I invented the lightbox but then I found out it already existed. True story.

Michael: Do you think we're going to have sex tonight?

Holly: Hell yeah

P.S. EXTRA BONUS:
Darryl: Mike gave me a list of his top ten Springsteen songs. Three of them were Huey Lewis and the News, one was Tracy Chapman Fast Car. And my personal favorite: Short People.

omg I was home alone and I literally just sat on my couch crying tears of laughter. What, you've never done that?

unholy war

After watching only 2 episodes of Mad Men, it's safe to say I'm totally obsessed. I am over the MOON for the costumes and set design. I like to revel in how far women have come since only being objectified secretaries. I also love love love Joan Holloway. Joan is played by Christina Hendricks and she is the definition of a femme fatale. She's not progressive enough to stand up against traditional gender roles so instead she embraces them, channeling her sex appeal to get what she wants while manipulating the powerful men around her to think it was their idea. It's only fitting that such a powerful-minded woman would also be powerful in appearance. Here's a taste of Joan:

Now go watch Mad Men, deal?

p.s. Somebody get me her entire wardrobe STAT. Also, I might need her hairstylist because DAMN that looks complicated.

it's nice to know not everybody is a lunatic

http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1463341016/bctid1866657225

Okay I had to remove the video because I couldn't get it not to auto-play but here's the link. It's basically this lunatic McCain supporter who is telling everyone at the rally that Obama is a muslim extremist. THEN a bunch of Republicans at the rally come together to burn the crazy guy pretty bad. OWNED.

Thanks to http://attackerman.firedoglake.com/

P.S.
I think it's time to bring back the http://barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com/ meme, seeing as how the American election is fast approaching. Barack Obama told me to tell you hello.

once upon a time...

...in a land far, far away, the fabulous Marina of Still Better And Worse tagged me to do this thing where you take all the music you have on your computer (or iPod) and put it on shuffle. Using the first song that comes on as inspiration, you have to create an outfit. I'm not usually much for taking outfit photos and was totally planning on cheating but I'm sort of a perfectionist with a really guilty conscience so I had to do it right.
AND GUESS WHICH SONG I GOT: Cross Bones Style by Cat Power. I got Cat Power, the very artist after whom this blog was named!(sup fancy grammar?). So I thought "ok, Cat Power in her early days; what would she wear?" and this is what I came up with:

I think in the blog world when you post pictures of an outfit you have to say what each piece of clothing is. I wouldn't want to break blogger etiquette so: t-shirt underneath from Urban Outfitters, Flannel shirt from Value Village second-hand store, Pants from I really forget sorry, shoes are chuck taylor's. Did I do it right?

I sort of took the look from this photo, and her video for Cross Bones Style (which is a great song with a weird video so you should watch it):

According to the meme I'm supposed to tag like 2 or 3 people which seems like a bit of a pain but I'll tag Megs and Lana @ Tjejsajten and Andrew @ Pull Teeth because I know they'll have lots of fun with this (and all three of them are scarily photogenic so taking outfit photos will be a cakewalk). And for kicks, I'll tag Brittany too because I miss her posts and she needs to show me some of her latest H&M finds.

oh dear lord Urban Outfitters...

Show me someone on whom this looks good and I'll know you're vision-impaired.

that's it, i give up

I just don't know what to do anymore:

walk among us

HALLOWEENIE is coming up really soon. I don't think I have any place to even dress up so that's kind of a bummer. I always think of an awesome idea last minute and put a ton of effort into it and come out with a pretty good costume. I love playing dress up.

I was feeling particularly creative today so I thought I'd make a collage. This time of the year always makes me want to break out the dark plum lipstick and black clothes. I love goth influenced style (not the cheesy mall-goth shit but the badass spiderweb tights and bat winged dresses). Here are some things to inspire you.

1. John Rocha Spring 09 RTW
2. Louise, image via Facehunter. Proof that you can do goth without black hair.
3. Beetlejuice and Lydia (Winona Ryder) from the Tim Burton classic
4. Backstage makeup at Lanvin Spring 08 RTW
5. Camilla Stærk (designer and goth-tress extraordinaire) with friends, image via the Sartorialist
6. Enid (Thora Birch) in Ghost World
7. Edward Scissorhands of course and appropriately captioned "Vampires Three."

television ethics

Who else thought this week's Office was a total bust? Nothing of consequence happened AT ALL. That thing with Meredith was just filler. Where was Pam's camera time? What is this, amateur hour?
