I'll just leave this here...

Anybody starved for inspiration (hahaha...that sounds a little melodramz, my bad)? It's been kind of gray around here lately but when I saw this spread on Fashion Gone Rogue (thanks to my bf4eva Pull Teeth aka Andrew Chipman for linking me) I was instantly like WOAH. Here's how the conversation went, try to keep up:

Andrew: WOAH

(and he linked me to this picture)

Me: OMG :')
Me: :'D
Me: -___-

Andrew: haahahahaha

Me: dead

Andrew: SO MANY EMOTIONS

Me: so much hideous beauty
Me: all encapsulating
Me: wonderous
Me: dirt

Andrew: exxxactly

So there you have it folks, now you know what to expect...

Such amazing shoes, such a great colour palette, so much...hideous beauty?

mixed bag of magic

WELP my wireless router is broken so I haven't been able to blog regularly from the comfort of my laptop but I thought ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, I GOTTA BE ME so I decided to try blogging from the family PC.
1st Problem Encountered: Keyboard keeps changing to French Canadian setting and my apostrophes become èèèèèèèèèèèèè those

CARRYING ON:

- Bad Romance is the best video ever. Not going to do a recap or anything but bff Andrew (aka PULLTEETH) has some awesome screencaps on his blog. My favourite one:

bearskin rug turned coat-with-train
P.S. Still think the song itself is pretty lackluster but the video makes me like it more. Can we bring back Much Music video dances? You know, tweens all in a community center gym dancing while music videos play on a huge projector? Ya?

- I have a GoogleWave invite on its way to my inbox!!!! (FINALLY)

- I got the best new ring, now my profanity is a gift to you!

- Stu is in Hawaii for 9 days because his sister is getting Mauiied (ew sorrrrrrrrrry). I'm not going because I've never met her and I'm also broke. BUT HEY LOOK HOW CUTE WE ARE WITH OUR MATCHING JOE FRESH SUNNIES

- This clown is coming to visit me in Vancouver in 23 SLEEPS BITCHES oh AND we have VIP SECOND ROW SEATS TO GAGA'S MONSTER BALL. WUT.

- I'm making it my MISSION to become this girl.
Need: Hair, shades, fur coat, chanel tshirt, metal sequin encrusted underneath-thing. OK I THINK I CAN DO THE HAIR, I'M ON MY WAY

- Also, I still need a job.

don't let it get you down

"BREAKING NEWS: LA LANPHEAR HAS TRADED IN HER HEELS FOR DANCING SHOES!!!
AFTER SEVERAL RUNINS WITH THE PLATINUM BLONDE, SHE’S MADE IT CLEAR THAT SHE JUST WANTS TO DANCE. LOL. I KIND OF SUSPECTED IT WHEN SHE EXCITEDLY DANCED HER WAY OVER TO ME AT ALEXANDER WANG AND THEN DANCED THE FOLLOWING NIGHT AWAY AT CLUB SANDWICH. SHE TOLD ME OVER DINNER LAST NIGHT THAT WHAT WAS CONSIDERED TO JUST BE WEEKEND SHOES HAS NOW BEEN REPLACED AS HER EVERYDAY SHOES. THEY’RE NOT BY ANY DESIGNER IF YOU’RE WONDERING, JUST SOME LOCAL FIND AT A SHOE SHOP. SHE HAD THE METAL HEEL REPLACED WITH A WOODEN ONE AND NOW SHE FAITHFULLY WEARS THEM EVERYDAY. SHE SAID SHE WAS A LITTLE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LONG TERM EFFECTS OF WEARING SUPER HIGH HEELS AND WOULD RATHER BE COMFORTABLE DURING THE LONG HOURS OF FASHION WEEK, THAT’S UNTIL PARIS FASHION WEEK ARRIVES AND IT’S A WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL GAME. YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: JUST DANCE, DON’T WOBBLE."

From Jak and Jil

Of course, Jak and Jil is talking about the super stylish and badass Kate Lanphear, Senior Fashion and Style editor for Elle US.

I just love how she found non-designer shoes that she loved and had them re-heeled to make them wearable for every day. It's fun to DIY sometimes but if you don't have the skill-level for something like a drastic alteration, tailoring or shoe modification, don't let it hold you down; you can always get it done somewhere close by, usually for cheaper than you'd think. When my favourite pair of Payless lace-up oxfords lost one of the pieces on its heel, I took them into a shoe-repair shop and had them fixed (the noisy plastic heel-caps replaced with new, better, rubber heel-caps) within a day and for only 6 dollars! I was amazed at how cheap it was and so far my heels have held up swimmingly. It's also nice to frequent local family-owned businesses like seamstresses, tailors and shoe-repair shops because in this economy, they HAVE to do quality work and bring in clients to stay afloat so you know you're getting the best service that can be offered.

Now to find some gold disco shoes at Value Village...

girl power

Even though I was approximately 2 years old in 1991 when this episode of House of Style first aired, I'm still allowed to be nostalgic for the 90's right? No? Well I'm still allowed to love how female-positive they were.
...And to want every outfit Deee-Lite's Lady Miss Kier ever wore.

p.s. Is everyone aware that House Of Style is coming back? It's going to be hosted by Chanel Iman. I'm not sure how I feel. I feel kinda funny.

reminiscin'

Remember when Chris March (designer/contestant on Project Runway Season 4, the SECOND BEST season after Season 2 (the one with Santino, Daniel Vosovic and ANDRAAAAAAEEE)) made some pieces in his final collection using human hair? How FUCKING AWESOME was that? Susie Bubble's latest post about clothing made with hair reminded me of that great moment in PR history. Observe:

So fucking awesome.

Also, upon googling the hair-clothes, I turned up another creation of his that is worth mentioning: his bedazzled Vaseline jar:

So fucking awesome version 2.0

ta kewn

Speaking of Resort 2009 (see: a few posts below) MY FAVOURITE COLLECTION HAS BEEN THAKOON. Sorry for the caps but it had to be stressed (and I love to format).

LOOK. LOOK AT THAT. Look at the weird petal-y metallic skirt with the peach floaty top and look at that strange floral print skirt and look at that great mesh-y black sweatshirt. And, ok, most of all, look at the sheer nylon knee-highs. This must be said: I covet this look.

So last week, on a day off, I ventured to The Bay (lovely Canadian department store) and picked some up. They aren't quite as sheer but they do the trick. See:

just fyi: I'm REEEELY tall (5'10 like Cindy Crawford. Actually, 5'9.) so it's hard to get my whole self in a shot. See how I have to slouch? I bet you're sad you're missing the bow atop my ponytail. I am. Also, sorry for the sick outfit.

Also acquired on my shopping trip: white stockings. EVER since Betsey Johnson Fall 2007 RTW (ie: since Spring 2007) I have been DYING to rock white tights with white shoes and finally FOUND some opaque-ish white tights by Calvin Klein. Next purchase: white Keds.

How amazing is that last look amirite or amirite?

tall and tan and young and lovely the girl from Ipanema goes walking...

It's RESORT SEASON! Get out your sun hats and designer handbags to keep you company on your luxury cruise!

What is a Resort collection you ask?

Essentially it's a collection presented by some designers between their Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer collections. It is also known as "smack" or "dope" to us junkies going through withdrawal from the aforementioned primary seasons. Thus, I present to you my drugs of choice:

Valentino: Flawless

Peter Som: not great by any means but this print was pretty.

Zac Posen: Again, not impressive. I only really dug this transparent little number.

Versace: I REALLY liked the beige and bright tangerine next to each other. Great graphic tee and interesting pants...

Helmut Lang: SO cool and wearable.

Chris Benz: Definitely one of my faves. Looooook at those colourrrrrrs!

Donna Karan: I don't know, it's all been done but she does it very well...

Michael Kors: Michael Kors made me puke. Honey I love you but HALE NO

Stella McCartney: This is what was said to Andrew upon seeing the collection:
stefanie says:
HOLY HELL
stefanie says:
FUCK THIS

In other words: so brilliant I almost posted every look but PAINFULLY cut it down to three for y'all

Marc Jacobs: The silhouettes were grotesque. Do not want. Will probably want when similar stuff shows up in his Spring 2009 Collection...Will probably not be able to help it...

Proenza Schouler: Boys it's been done to death to be honest...

Carolina Herrera: She is an absolute class act but some of the silhouettes made me sick. IE the latter photo.

Oscar de la Renta: GREAT gowns (as per usual) but the day dresses were pretty dull.

I left out a few ones that were "blah" and I left out Christian Dior and Chanel because they made me vom, you'll have to look those up on your own, friends...
