remember when...

Remember when Moschino Cheap & Chic got all Olive Oyl obsessed and made this adorable perfume?

And dressed Mariacarla as Olive Oyl herself?

(if you're fuzzy on the season, it was Spring/Summer 2004)

When I was about 4 years old, my favourite videos to watch were the OLD OLD recordings of Popeye. I always loved Olive Oyl's awkwardness and ugly-but-oh-so-charming manner. What a doll. Thank god Shelley Duvall played her, I couldn't have cast that better myself:

Brb, putting on some frilly undergarments, rolling my socks down over my HUGE boots and knotting my hair into that adorable little chignon.

p.s. This is the Olive Oyl video I really wanted to post but embedding was disabled. Rude!

thanks Dave

To make up for my late night commentfest to annoy you:

"Fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent died in Paris on June 1, 2008, at the age of 71. Saint-Laurent changed the face of the fashion industry when he became chief designer of the House of Dior at age 21, going on to design clothes that reflected women's changing role in society. He retired from haute couture in 2002 after falling ill. Magnum presents a selection of images to celebrate his legacy."
